SURE, WE ALL KNOW about her much professed affair with Angelina Jolie, Ione Skye and Madonna in the mid-90s—before they went all mainstream and respectable—but model-actress Jenny Shimizu was out and proud long before it was glam and edgy to do so. And she does more than just kiss and tell. She’s been active with the Gay Games and The Banyan Tree Project, an Asian American AIDS awareness group, prompting Power Up to name her one of the “Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz” this year. This week, she’ll receive the inaugural Lesbian Icon Award from the 12th Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. For the fall, she’s working on a six-episode series for HERE TV, based on celebrities and motorcycles, her other great passion. “I have a ‘89 Harley chopper that I drive all the time,” the professional mechanic told DIVA magazine. “That’s the thing that keeps me Zen and complete.” —TMM
