Eats, Shoots, and Leaves?
Please, don’t let DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda be as dumb as it sounds! Posted: July 11, 2006 SET IN CHINA, DreamWorks’s animated flick Kung Fu Panda (2008), will star Jack Black as Po the Panda, the rotund and lackadaisical creature who’s revealed to be the “Chosen One,” the annointed hero who must save the Valley of Peace from the snow leopard, Tai Lung. Po is a most inauspicious choice—he’s a lowly noodle-shop grunt and lazy to boot. Helping him go from kung pao chicken to kung fu master are his trainers: Tigress (voiced by Angelina Jolie, natch), Master Monkey (Jackie Chan), and Master Viper (Lucy Liu). No typecasting here! No, really, not with Dustin Hoffman playing the Mr. Miyagi role of Shifu. Now that right there is a load of chop hooey.
