Rosie O’Donnell finally apologies for offensive jingo lingo

By TMM Editors

Posted: December 14, 2006

ROSIE finally gets it—kinda. “The View” co-host Rosie O’Donnell—usually a frothy fount of indignation when the rights of gays and lesbians are concerned—finally publicly apologized several days after putting on a mock Chinese accent during a segment of the morning show. O’Donnell’s mea culpa, in which she confessed to not knowing that saying “ching chong” might offend some Asians, came only after she was publicly excoriated by politicians, Asian American groups and others. (O’Donnell’s flack, Cindi Berger, shrugged off critics by saying, “I certainly hope that one day they will be able to grasp her humor.” Beeyatch!) How did the “Queen of Nice” come to have her multi-culti revelation? An Asian woman in her makeup department told her it was offensive. Here’s hoping the Asian woman wasn’t a manicurist.
